I have joined the editorial board of antifascist news and strategy discussion space Three Way Fight. My first article for Three Way Fight is an interview with Esther Warwick, Executive Director of Disability Communities Defending Democracy, on intersections between disability and fascist and anti-fascist politics: Disability and the Far Right: Joan Braune interviews Esther Warwick – Three Way Fight.
For me, the most powerful and informative part of our discussion centered on how Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s call for “autism farms” and current policies around the country targeting the homeless for incarceration and forced labor, dovetail with a history of segregation, institutionalization, sterilization, and forced labor by disabled people in American history. As migrant workers are deported, will the Trump administration turn to disabled people and homeless people to fill the gap through work camps and “cottage” industries?
Three Way Fight was founded about twenty years ago, beginning as a discussion space for left and antifascist strategy, themed around the book Confronting Fascism: Documents for a Militant Movement, by Don Hamerquist, J. Sakai, Mark Salotte, and Anti-Racist Action Chicago. Check out more: https://threewayfight.org.
